Romance in the modern world is truly dead

Romance in the modern world is truly dead.

The thought of my lover here and present with arms wrapped 'round
Is enough to cause a shiver across my spine and travel down
Gone is the conversations and silent scenes of love's new blooms
Missing is the laughter of thoughts shared in intimate moods
Sleep is upon me before you remember to return
Nothing of the happenings in our little family you learn
You never send me flowers, you never write me a verse
Long time since you came to me ravenous with thirst
I carried on without you for so long and you were unaware
So long that now it has ended and you didn't think to care
Extra time is spent in front of a screen with device in hand
One I am again when once we were two to plan
Romance in the modern world is truly dead
The rat race has won over heart, monetary value by a head.
